Families often want to maximize time in the parks, but relaxing at the Resort (having a “resort day”) with the kids and spending the day at the pool can provide a change of pace and much needed time to re-energize.

There are a number of great amenities at Coronado Springs pools, but here are a few that stood out to our family:

Lifeguards and Life Jackets
If you have young children, pools are hardly ever relaxing. Safety is always a priority. Lifeguards are typically stationed around The Dig Site pool and plenty of life jackets in various sizes are available to put on children. Lifeguard are not typically at the leisure pools.
Lifeguards and cast members will also participate with families and children by leading games and fun activities in and around The Dig Site Pool.
Pool Slide
One of the most exciting features of the Coronado Springs Resort pools is the pool slide. The Dig Site pool features a water slide that guests of all ages can enjoy, particularly with the available life jackets. It’s unlikely children under the age of 4 will feel comfortable enough to go down the slide. There is an area at the bottom for parents to wait and “catch” the kids. Notably, parents and children cannot ride the slide together.
Towel Availability
There is an abundance of towels. The resort provides plenty of clean towels for guests to use and no reason to worry about bringing my own towels from the room or running out of clean ones during my stay.
Heated Pool
Heated pools are a priority for our family, as we love to go to Disney in January when the temperature can fluctuate quite a bit. With a heated pool, it’s unlikely a cold spell will be significant enough to wipe swimming off our activity list.
Siesta’s Cantina Lounge
Located right next to The Dig Site pool, Siesta’s Cantina Lounge is a great quick-service restaurant. It serves appetizers, salads, Entrees and Kids’ Meals from 11am-9pm and continues to serve cocktails until 10pm. You can check out the latest menu. While everything is solid, we particularly enjoy the nachos.
3 Leisure Pools
The resort has three quieter “Leisure” pools, one located in each of the village areas. These pools are less crowded, providing an often have less kids (who prefer to head to The Dig Site). Unlike the Dig Site, these pools do not have lifeguards on duty, and guests are required to bring their own towels.
Iguana Arcade and Explorer’s Playground
Just behind the pool and water slide are Iguana Arcade and Explorer’s Playground. Iguana Arcade includes a few video arcade games for kids. Explorer’s Playground is a small playground for kids to run around and let out some energy.
